 No other river in the world comes close to the scenery, whitewater and unique experience of the Upper Animas River!   We have searched far and wide and firmly believe this is the best commercial section of river on the planet.  When the water level is high in early-mid June, the Upper Animas  is non-stop Class IV-V action and is only suitable for dedicated adventure seekers. Once the river drops in late June and July the intensity decreases dramatically and is suitable for everyone with an adventurous spirit.  Be careful, our fully stocked riverside camp and hiking options in this road-less wilderness might just lure you to opt for the two or three day trip! SEASON

The Animas River is a free-flowing river which depends on snowpack. The Upper Animas starts running in May and is usually good through July. At lower August flows we cannot run all the way from Silverton but will start trips in Needleton.
